Viva Las Vegas

lcsvegasI love getting packages in the mail.  It’s the little things.  I got 2 new pairs of Swedish goggles, one red and one green, and a new swim cap from  My new swim cap is a tribute to a certain some one’s up coming bachelor party.  I love it.

After work I was able to go to the gym.  I walked on the treadmill for 30min.  That’s as much as I could take.  Then I did the recumbent bike for 15 min, and did some leg extensions and curls.  At least I worked up a sweat.  After dinner I started going through some of my old Triathlete Magazines. (I bring the old ones to work and put them in the surgery waiting room)  I found an article in the June ’08 issues written by Troy Jacobson.  He talked about how a week or two off from training would not adversely impact your fitness, in fact might improve your quality of training.  However, three weeks off or more and fitness starts to decline.  The greater your fitness base, the slower the decline.  The article made me feel a little better about my time off, but that doesn’t mean that first Sunday back in the pool isn’t quietly causing me a panic attack.
