The Women’s Distance Festival always proves to be great race, and great time. I got to the park a little before 0730, so I could register, and register the kids for the fun run. After passing off camera duty to Jason, I went for a warm up run. I talked to Alyson S. before the race, and she said there were over 500 people registered. Wow! I started towards the front, some where behind the fast high school kids. The best part of the race is the firs mile is basically downhill and flat. I looked back at my previous times, and my fastest was a 14:05. I just wanted to do better than that. I kept my sights on Katie M. the whole race. Not to beat her, but I knew If I stayed close to her, I would have a good time.
I finished in 16thoverall, with a 13:27:24. I was so happy with my time! I won my age group and got an awesome braceletfor a trophy! The kids ran the fun run, and got medals. Brady tripped on the way down, but he got up and finished with a few tears in his eyes. The cupcakes from Cafe Moxo quickly fixed the boo boo. Thanks to all the volunteers, and supporters for another great race.
