Still Sore

The triathlon on Sunday and the training race on Tuesday left my legs pretty sore today.  I could tell when I woke up it was going to be a rough day.

Shortly before leaving my house for the TT it started pouring rain and tornado warnings were flashing for surrounding counties.  Luckily the sun came out as I was leaving my driveway and the rest of the day turned out pretty nice.

During my warm-up I could tell my legs didn’t have it.  The cross wind was no advantage for me either.  The crowd was pretty big with most of the speed in the back 1/4 of the lineup.  I was positioned pretty far back and was in danger of finishing last again.   Thank goodness that didn’t happen.  Even though the start time from first to last was lengthy it seemed like we all finished pretty close together.

The first half was painful and the second half was better.  There must have been a slight tailwind on the way back.  The turnaround was marshalled by Ingersoll who is on the DL and I was thankful to have him as when I approached the turnaround there was huge monster truck right behind me.  Thanks brother.

My time was about 30 seconds slower than last ride.  I’m not complaining as I was feeling tired and didn’t have high expectations.  I did bring my running shoes and didn’t waste time transitioning to running.  I think my T1 was around 61 seconds.

I actually felt good on my run and finished 5K in just over 23:00.  Probably not the smartest thing to do considering my fatigue but that’s what makes you stronger.  I could barely keep my eyes open on the drive home so I knew I put in a good effort.
