A Day Of Redemption

Yesterday was a wash so I was eager to get in a good training day today.   Luckily I had the day off to accomplish these high expectations.

My day started at 05:30 with a trip to the pool.  I was in the bath tub temperature water around 06:00 with it still dark outside outside.  I wasn’t in the mood to do sets so I opted to just do 1250 yards straight without rest.  This made the time go by a little faster.  I actually sprinted for the last 250 and felt sufficiently tired post swim.  I made home in time to take Campbell down to the bus stop.

The rest of the day was spent doing errands, taking Hagan to the Doctor, and taking my wheel to Wheelfast.  Apparently it will take a while because of how “special” it is.

17:00 rolled around and I was off to New City for the Wednesday TT.  I didn’t feel bad warming up so I was anxious about the start.  I was position behind Lisa K. again.  Halfway to the turnaround I began to feel tired and felt like I had a headwind so I let up to anticipate a tailwind home.  No one had caught me but I was not catching anyone either.  I guess I was holding my own.

When I hit the turnaround I immediately noticed that I must have had a tailwind out and am now confronted with a headwind.  My motivation was depleted and I limped toward the finish.  About 1 mile from the finish a faster rider passed me and motivated me to increase my speed.  I came close to catching Lisa but no cigar.  I stopped the clock in 27:42.

After a brief rest me, Lawyer, Chuck, and Danoh went out for a 2 mile run.  I felt good and could have gone farther but I needed to get back home.  My day was over.

I felt as though I redeemed myself from the previous few days of less-than-stellar training.
