I have not run since Sunday and did the training race on Tuesday. I had to lace up the shoes and hit the road. I headed out to do the usual run to veterans parkway and back, just over 4.5 miles. I started out with a ton of energy. I guess that is what happens when you take a few days off. Hmmm…
My first mile was at a 7:10 pace, my second just a few seconds slower. I took then next half mile to recover. My third mile was at a 7:40 pace. I had slowed down considerably. To clean up that last mile I made sure I finish strong. My last mile was a 7:03.
Time off really helps, but I usually feel too guilty.
