I have the day off today. So I took the kids to daycare this morning already dressed in my running gear. After dropping them off I drove to the park to start my running workout. Today I wanted to do 2 sets of 4 mile intervals. I chose to just do 4 laps in the park. I ran counter-clockwise so I would have to run up the big hill 4 times total. Right away I knew today wasn't going to be … [Read more...]
20miler
Sunny and 34 degrees with a NE wind at 15 mph. That is what greeted Dan and I as we began today's run at 10:00. I don't like running out in the country but Dan wanted to do a loop out of town then a loop in town. Against my better judgment we headed west. In retrospect this was probably a good idea since this route incorporated more hills than an easterly route. The St. Louis Marathon is very … [Read more...]
Going Out Too Hard
I took the afternoon off of work to do my key workout #1 for week 10. It was 2x4 miles at MP with half mile recovery between intervals. I started out with a 2 mile warm-up then headed to the park. I kept the pace between 7:45 and 8:00 min pace, trying to improve on my fitness level. It was hard, but comfortable. I took a little longer recovery, knowing the the next interval would be tough. A Little Jog in the Park
Today was key workout #2 for week 9. a 16 mile run at 10% slower the MP. Jason and I headed to east to Washington park, did around 3.5 laps and headed back home. Totaling just over 16.5. I went into the run with the mindset that 16 mile was nothing. After about 5 miles, Thursdays blizzard tempo run set in. This was not going to be an easy day. With temps in the 50s the park was the place … [Read more...]
Nervous
I was a little nervous going into today's run. It was supposed to be 16 miles run at 10% slower than marathon pace or about 08:45/mile. I have been feeling better since my sickness but today was going to be my first long run in a while. Normally 16 isn't that bad considering the miles we had been putting in but I missed last weekend's 20 mile run and the previous was just 10 miles. Endurance … [Read more...]
