Tour de Groundhog

This year will mark the 23rd Tour de Groundhog Cyclocross. Since 2005, the “Groundhog” has been held in memory of William (Bill) Jensen, 38 who died on October 24, 2004 as a result of a skydiving accident near Springfield Illinois. Bill was a member of Team MACK from its inception in 1992 through 2000. Bill was Team MACK’S newsletter editor and computer go-to guy for many years. Bill took up marathon running and skydiving as well as continuing his cycling, and was a fixture at MACK training races right up to the time of his death. Bill qualified for the Boston Marathon in September of 2004 with a personal best time of just over 3 hours. He was truly a super athlete and will be missed by all who knew him.

February 21, 2010 we will gather to remember Bill and to support Bill’s children’s education fund. Each year Bill’s Widow Karen and two young children Josh and Anna attend the event and serve as scorers (Karen and Anna) and starter (Josh). Karen, Josh and Anna hope you too can attend and show your support for one of our own. We hope to see you there. Flyer attached for location and race times.
