More about the race

William (Bill) Jensen, 38 died on Sunday October 24, 2004 as a result of a skydiving accident near Springfield Illinois. Bill was a member of Team MACK from its inception in 1992 through 2000. Bill was Team MACK’S newsletter editor and computer go-to guy for many years. Bill took up marathon running and skydiving as well as continuing his cycling, and was a fixture at MACK training races right up to the time of his death. Bill qualified for the Boston Marathon in September of 2004 with a personal best time of just over 3 hours. He was truly a super athlete and will be missed by all who knew him.

In February we will gather to remember Bill at the 21st Annual Tour de Groundhog, Bill Jensen Memorial Cyclocross. The race will be held at New Salem State Park, near Petersburg Illinois. Bill’s widow Karen and two young children Josh and Anna, will be at the event all day cheering the competitors. Proceeds will be donated to Bill’s children’s education fun.
