Coach Troy on Endurance Planet

I wrote in to Endurance Planet sometime ago to ask Coach Troy a question regarding strength training. My question was about incorporating strength training into my marathon training plan. Is it best to lift before or after a run?

Coach Troy starts of by saying how important strength training is to multisport athletes over the age of 30. Coach Troy goes on to explain “specificity.” Your run days should always be about running, your cycling days should always be about cycling. When you add weights or do multiple disciplines on the same day they are supplemental to your sport specific training.
