I have not seen or heard form Tim in many years. I went to grade school and high school with him. We were always pretty good friends and lost touch somewhere in college.

Tim had been living down in Alabama for a few years now, but his dad is part of the Springfield Road Runners Club and had seen our site. Then a couple weeks ago he emails me through HardyBreed.com. I was so shocked to hear from him. Jason and had just been talking about him the night before.

I knew Tim had done track in high school but I had no clue what he had been up to. He sent me this story and the rest is history.

Way to go Tim! Rock on! (Are you still in the music industry?) Back in grade school Tim said he was going to be a rock star when he grew up.

Thanks for the kind words. Can't tell you how many people have told me they think of me when they are training and make sure they take the precautions they need so they don't wind up on the side of the pavement. And Josh N, you are right....I was able to beat this, so anything is possible in life. No excuses anymore.....

Wow Tim, what a great story. Getting all the way to mile 24 and then having to DNF must have been a terrible mental hurdle to get past, congratulations on going back and finishing!!!

Great post Tim and welcome! Your last paragraph was spot on. You spend months training with one event in mind. You need the others to keep you focused because its so easy to throw the towel in. I would add to that doing small events in between is a booster as well--Even if its just for training and the need to get out into an "official" event. At the end of the day it's not about the result so much as what you've done 16, 18 weeks prior and the memories. Now that you've slain the demon you can move forward with your goals, not just in sport but everyday life. ahhhhh nothing like meeting a goal!
