It takes balance

By Kim • Aug 3rd, 2008 • Category: Kim's Training Log

I was so happy with my time @ the Canton tri that I celebrated with a few beers last night.  Consequently I slept in this morning.  I got some much need rest.

Now I probably should have made today a rest day, but I couldn’t.  I took full advantage of my alone time.  I went to fit club and did a hour of weights in powerzone class.  If you have never been to one of Christine’s class, you should try one.

After weights I went  to the pool.  I swam a straight 1.5miles.  During my swim I got lost in my thoughts.  I thought a lot about the tri, and where I could improve.  Why is it that I know exactly where my weakness lies, yet I focus more on my strongest sport?  Is it because I like to swim so much?   If I could improve my bike time by just a few minutes, I could have won yesterday.  I guess thats why training for a triathlon is so difficult.  It takes finding a balance between three sports. Not to mention family, friends, and a life.

After my very contemplative swim, I went home changed and went out for a run.  I wanted to get some kind of distance work in this week.  I did an easy, I mean easy 6 miles.  I averaged a 8:45 pace.  It had started to cool off somewhat, so it was a nice run.  I  brought my ipod along, and listened to the  Whigs, Gwen Stafani, and Fiona apple for a little angry female music.   Whew after all that I am ready for some dinner.
