I know, my last Master’s Swim post was little negative. You will be happy to hear that my second Master’s Swim experience was much more pleasant.
It didn’t start out that way though. I arrived at about 10 till to find people waiting in the parking lot. Apparently the Lifeguard was a “no show”. Which meant we didn’t have a key to get in. After much waiting one of the guys went to get a key. He returned with the lifeguard. Thanks.
We didn’t get started until around 08:30. The pool was packed. 3-4 to each lane. I was in lane 1 of course. This time, however, there were swimmers of my ability. All 4 of us were pretty close in speed. Patty S. though had much more endurance so she lead all the sets.
Also this time there seemed to be a guy in charge and he actually had the sets typed on paper for each lane. There were 3 options. We (the slow lane) took option 3 which meant less in number and more in time to do each set. Even still I don’t think I finished all of the option 3. But I wasn’t the first to leave the pool this time either. It seems like it is a battle of attrition. Not many are able to finish all the sets. By the time it is over there is probably only 1 person per lane.
Again, I’m not sure how much I swam but it was for about an hour. I stopped when my arms were getting tired. I don’t want to over-extend myself with just 1 weeks until Austin.
The last swim experience was less than desirable. This time it was much more exciting, organized, and effective. I’ll go back again…….sometime.
