3 Days

By Jason • Jul 28th, 2008 • Category: Jason's Training Log

I can’t help but continue to reference music when discussing running.  The 2 seem to go hand in hand.  Running is emotional for me and so is music.  Today’s run reminded me of the Jane’s Addiction song “3 Days”.  Although it isn’t on my iPod I thought of it as I ran today because this will be an unprecedented 3 consecutive days of running.  Plus it was my longest run in probably 2 months.

I ran a whopping 6.5 miles today.  Boy, was it exhausting.  Half way through I could start to feel the 4 weeks lay-off but I struggled through it.  Man, it’s good to be back.  By the time I got home I could barely doff my clothes.  It was actually a good stress reliever for the family trip to Seattle later in the day.  Now I can relax on the plane knowing that I have already put in a good workout…no worries.

Anyway, for those of you who have never listened to “3 Days” it’s kind of like “The End” by the Doors.  It’s a long song that starts out mellow then crescendos into a morose finale.  Try turning off the lights, sitting in a comfortable chair, sipping some scotch (single malt, of course) on the rocks, and blasting “3 Days”.  That’s what I call ambiance.
