Mile PR

MiracleMileAfter all the waiting and anticipation my Magnificent Mile came together rather nicely.  All I wanted to do was break 6:00.  The 35-39 age group was rather small, 5 people?  I started out front.  I didn’t really want to set the pace for the group, but it just kind of happened that way.  After the first quarter, the foot steps behind seemed to start fading.  I never looked back to see who was with me.  It turns out Jason and Kevin were on my heals.  At the half mark, it was slightly up hill and the wind seemed to be hitting me straight on.  I was struggling to hold my pace, but I knew once I got through the up hil section I would be alright.  I hit the final quarter mile and with the finish line in sight I picked up the pace to the best of my ability.

I had no clue as to what my time was.  Kevin, said he did around a 5:41 and I was just ahead of him, so I was happy with my possiblities.

The 5:27 was good enough for 10th place overall and a 35-39 age group win.

Great day, and I don’t want to run that hard again for a while…
