The Polka Trilogy

Jason and I headed out of Springfield around 6:30 for the Polka Pace Race.  It is a small town 5k in Havana, IL. [Results] [Photos]  You couldn't have asked for a better day at the Illinois State Fair.  The temperature was in the low 70's and the turnout was HUGE!  With over to 1000 participants the race went off without a hitch. Sizzling Mile

[Results] [Photos] The temperature was warm but the times were hot!  SRRC's Sizzling Mile was held at the Sacred Heart Griffin Track on Wednesday, July 23rd.  The 1 mile race (4 laps plus a little) was composed of 9 heats, based on predicted finish times.  The race started with the kids heat and ended with the sub 5 heat and a new Sizzling Mile record 4:34:08! The Hot & Sunny Capital City Biathlon

[Results] [Photos] A beautiful day for the 2nd Capital City Biathlon at Lake Springfield.  The temps were in the upper 70s with just a tad of humidity for the start of the race.  The turnout easily doubled for this years race. What a Magnificent Mile!

[Results] [Photos] The first year for the Springfield's Magnificent Mile covered a grueling one mile stretch on 6th Street in the Historic downtown Springfield, IL.   The race drew around a hundred runners from central Illinois.  The heats went off at 3 minute intervals by age group.  The temperature was in the mid 60s and a SE wind was at our backs.  The course was marked at each 1/4 mile.  … [Read more...]
