I'm planning on it! My house is 4.4 miles from New City. Being a newbie, what is the time trial all about? How far is it and which way do you go?

Kudos to Steve for a great race experience. The Lindsay Bridge closing could have created a train wreck but the course was well designed. The pictures are also great. Is there any way to download pictures as in past years. Maybe I am exposing my lack of Flickr experience. Help anyone?

and if you guys liked the Sand Creek Trail Race & Allerton, head to Danville on January 8 2011. Great trail run in Kickapoo St Park in the Danville IL area. Not as tough as the Pere Marquette Endurance but a very good race, up & down, run in any weather. Last year was around -10 with the windchill. I'll be there, give it a try!

You're right about Springfield needing a trail race. I've been "studying" on that for quite awhile. I haven't found a venue that really suits and handles enough people, outside of Jim Edgar State Park. Let me know if you have any ideas. There may be some trails I haven't thought about that would handle the parking, the runners & the pre & post race folks. A park with a shelter would be nice .................

I was running in the same group when you fell. It definitely robbed you of your rhythm, but you hung tough. Way to go! I'm no trail runner, semi-retired from running/running about 12-15 miles per week, and 20 pounds overwieght these days, but I really liked the race too. Your observations were right on target

Wife,
I can't say enough how much it meant to have you be a part of that special day. Seeing you those times during the race made the "dark" parts a little less darker, the painful parts a little less painful, and the joyful parts a little more joyful. Thanks; thanks for being there; thanks for training with me; thanks for letting me chase that "thing" I'll never catch; thanks for being my
wife.

Jason,
Great post and thanks for remembering the men and women that serve our country. I'm in for 2011 if you've got room in the car. Now maybe I should get off this trainer and go run some more trails (been run'n the kokie mill trail)

Ya, it was my first attempt with the caffeine abstinence. Not the smartest thing I've done in my life. Should have done a test run. As far as being there at IMWI, in essence you were. We are like of pack of wolves (well, minus the searching for strippers and cocaine in Vegas). All triathletes are brothers. Sharing in pain. Directly or indirectly the multi-sport community in Springfield helped get me through the experience.
