Jason's Training Log

Columbia River Valley

By Jason • Jul 30th, 2008 • Category: Jason's Training Log

We flew into Seattle then drove to Wenatchee (Entiat), Washington the next day.  I’m pretty excited to run in a different area than always down Washington St.  The view is specatactular of the Columbia River and the Entiat River.  Winding along with the river on one side and mountains on the other.  Better than tall [...]

3 Days

By Jason • Jul 28th, 2008 • Category: Jason's Training Log

I can’t help but continue to reference music when discussing running.  The 2 seem to go hand in hand.  Running is emotional for me and so is music.  Today’s run reminded me of the Jane’s Addiction song “3 Days”.  Although it isn’t on my iPod I thought of it as I ran today because this [...]

Feelin’ Stronger Every Day

By Jason • Jul 27th, 2008 • Category: Jason's Training Log

I think it was Chicago that had a song with this chorus line in it.  That is exactly how I felt today.  Two days in a row of running hasn’t happened in a couple of months.  I ran another 4.5 miles today.  The runs seem effortless but I still don’t know my pace as I [...]

Another 4.5

By Jason • Jul 26th, 2008 • Category: Jason's Training Log

Well, I’m not doing the triathlon on Sunday and I am still trying to recover some fitness so I was happy to be able to run today.  I ran my usual 4.5 mile loop.  Still no Garmin as I am just happy to be running and don’t really care about time.

Rehab

By Jason • Jul 25th, 2008 • Category: Jason's Training Log

It’s not the Rehab you’re thinking.  My shoulder is feeling great but I can’t get that damn Rehab song out of my head.  I just want to “jack the keys to her bleeping car, crash that piece of bleep, then step away”.  I need Rehab to get Rehab out of my head.  The good news [...]

Stonebake

By Jason • Jul 25th, 2008 • Category: Jason's Training Log

No, I didn’t mean the Stoneman.  The Dan Family and the Jason Family met in Petersburg today for some delicious pizza at Stonebake.  If you have never been to Stonebake it is worth the drive.  The pizza is good, especially the deep dish, and there is a kid’s area so you don’t have to worry [...]

Duel In The Sun

By Jason • Jul 23rd, 2008 • Category: Jason's Training Log

I warmed up for the Sizzling Mile with 3 Sam Adams and Seafood Alfredo from Olive Garden.  Not exactly the perfect pre-race meal but I’m still on the DL.  Unfortunately my diet will probably be the death of me.  Andy P. was sitting this race out to prepare for the upcoming triathlon so we watched [...]

Bugs Never Tasted So Good

By Jason • Jul 22nd, 2008 • Category: Jason's Training Log

4 weeks and 5 hours since my surgery.  Today was my first “real” run.  I ran for a total of 2.5 miles.  Suprisingly I wasn’t huffing and puffing like I thought I would.  I did run pretty slow though.  I made sure to decelerate on the descents to lessen the pounding on my clavicle.
It’s been a [...]

1 Mile Down……

By Jason • Jul 20th, 2008 • Category: Jason's Training Log

I waited until about 20:00 tonight to allow for the smothering humidity to die down.   It was still miserable but the humidity was not going to deter my exhilaration today.  I ran for the first time in 5 weeks.  It felt GREAT!  Only 1 mile but that didn’t matter.  Getting out and doing what I [...]

No Bike

By Jason • Jul 19th, 2008 • Category: Jason's Training Log

As of today my freshly repaired and painted Trek is not here…bummer.  I thought about running but decided to see how my shoulder would hold up to 90 minutes of mowing.  If I can mow surely I can run.  Desperation yes, correlation maybe.  Anyway, it felt good to work up a sweat outside instead of inside [...]
