A Partner to Push

After spending the morning at the Heroes Run for Hope taking photos.  I was motivated to get out and do some sport specific training. Jason and I decided on a brick, starting from my house.  We did a short warm up out to Farmingdale road on our bikes.  The plan was to head south for 3 miles then head all the way back to my house for a total of 10. For some odd reason I was thinking the road … [Read more...]

Today was the first Heroes run for hope, in Chatham Illinois.  I got up around 0600 this morning to do the usual pre-race routine.  I drank my coffee and checked the weather.  It was a cool 40 degrees out.  I knew it be a bit cool for the start, but perfect race weather.  View the photos We got to Chatham, parked at the finish and walked to the start.  Before the race I visited with fellow … [Read more...]

Too Guilty

I have not run since Sunday and did the training race on Tuesday.  I had to lace up the shoes and hit the road.  I headed out to do the usual run to veterans parkway and back, just over 4.5 miles.  I started out with a ton of energy.  I guess that is what happens when you take a few days off.  Hmmm... My first mile was at a 7:10 pace, my second just a few seconds slower.  I took then next half … [Read more...]

Runners are not the most flexible people.  We notoriously  have tight hamstrings, and quads.  I could use to do more stretching or yoga.  I have learned to be more flexible with my training.  I am the queen of over training, and feel horribly guilty if I miss a work out, but who wants to stress over that.  Life happens and you have to adjust.  Tonight for example, the nursery at FC west is … [Read more...]

Jason reminded me that we have never really done the Tuesday/Thursday training rides this late in the year. I think it was just last year when the Day Lights Savings Time Change to a new date. So what this gave us was almost a month more of training rides. Great for cycling, bad for the toes. The temperature was 65 degrees when Jason and I headed out early. We did a variation of Frostbite … [Read more...]

As Close As It Gets

I finally got my new issue of Triathlete magazine in the mail yesterday.  The cover was torn off, thanks post office.  At least I got it.  I read some during my break today.  It was interesting to read about the amateurs that will be racing in Kona.  I can't wait till Oct. 11th.  I followed Dan's theme from Sunday, and had time to catch up on my podcasts while I road my trainer ofter work … [Read more...]

110% Better

I was cursing the rain when I woke up this morning.  I had a long run planned for the morning.  I dropped the kids off at school, and was going to brave the rain any way, until I saw lightening.   I thought better, and drove to fitclub south to swim instead.  Unfortunately there was a class starting, and they were not leaving a lap lane open.  I guess I should have checked the schedule, but I just … [Read more...]

I Heart Podcast

If you didn't already know, I love podcasting.  Listening, watching, creating.  On todays long run, I made sure my iPhone was up to date with my subscription of podcast.  Looking at going around 10 miles, I knew exactly how many podcast I would need. I started out with the Competitor Radio Show.  Bob Babbitt and Paul Huddle are always great to listen to.  The usually are interviewing some of … [Read more...]

Weekend Update

Nothing to exciting training wise, this weekend.  Friday morning I went to the pool around 0530.  I had had a long swim, but it was cut short due to a class, and the fact the other lanes were full.  A little disgruntled I left and went to work.  I got a nice 5 mile run in after work though. Saturday morning I helped my friend Court set up for a garage sale.( Not to self:  Never drink Margaritas … [Read more...]
