Exciting Weekend

ChrissieBikeSideOn

What an exciting weekend of training and racing.   I did the training part while other raced.  If you didn't know the Ironman World Championship in Kona was on Saturday.  One of Springfield's (Beardstown) own HardyBreed Rabbits Travis Shrowl took part finishing in under 12 hrs! You can look up his splits here (bib 1379).  This was a fun filled Saturday for many, watching live video online or … [Read more...]

Master’s Swimming

I left my house around 07:00 to arrive at Master's Swim by 07:45.  This gave me plenty of time to remove my cycling gear and get down to tri shorts.  This was my first time at Master's Swim and I felt really out of place.  I'm not a strong swimmer, these are the best (old) swimmers in Springfield, and I wasn't sure of the protocol.  I didn't want to sound dumb so I didn't ask anyone what they … [Read more...]

Running Recap

Thursday was cold and rainy so I was relegated to running on the treadmill.  My first experience on the never ending belt in a long time.  Needless to say it was miserable.  At least the baseball playoffs were on TV.  I ran 5 miles and the Cardinals ending up losing.  Wainwright was tough but Holiday...... Friday was a day off since I would be waking up at 05:00 on Saturday to get in a … [Read more...]

Big fat Zero

lg_zero

Sunday:  I got a big fat zero.  That is what Dungan calls it.  I was hungover, and pretty useless and did absolutely nothing. (it was my long run day.)  I should get bonus points though for attending the Springfield Tri Club social. Monday:  I had to make up for it.  I headed to the pool at lunch and did 2000 yards.  500, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500.  After work, Jason wanted to go ride, … [Read more...]

Michael Phelps

It's not that I haven't been training it's just that I have been too lazy to sit at a computer and type.  On Saturday Dan tortured me for "50 some" miles then got me drunk in St. Louis.  I took the day off on Sunday then rode 29 miles on Monday.  Tuesday was a wash.  Wednesday I officially became a member of Eisenhower pool and swam 1500 yards.  I felt better swimming this time.  It must … [Read more...]

New City Time Trial Results for September 30, 2009

steve_schien

We had a perfect night & a good turnout for the last New City time trial of 2009!  There was one team of 4 riders on standard road bikes with no aerobars who started the clock with the first rider and I stopped timing for them at the 3rd rider (although the 4th was just behind them).  Lisa Kidd drafted Lance the whole ride-just to check it out-Lance was 1 second over his best time & … [Read more...]

It was a dark and stormy morning

mike_comerford1

Life is like riding a bicycle - in order to keep your balance, you must keep moving. ~Albert Einstein By Mike Comerford It was a dark and stormy morning in Millstadt, IL. I helped Jeremy get onto the stretcher and loaded into the ambulance and knew that now would be my only chance to ask the question. “Jeremy, your bike is still rideable and mine is trashed, can I ride yours the rest … [Read more...]
