My Longhorn 70.3 Report

Dan_Bike

Longhorn 70.3 in Austin Texas was an "A" race for the year.  Jason and I packed up and headed down in his truck, with our support crew of one, Lance Cull.  The race was on Sunday October 25, 2009.   We left at 5am Friday morning and arrived in Austin around 9:30pm.  It was a long drive! Saturday morning, we woke up and headed out to packet pick up at 11:30.  We then rushed back to our … [Read more...]

Master’s Swim (Here I Go Again)

I know, my last Master's Swim post was little negative.  You will be happy to hear that my second Master's Swim experience was much more pleasant. It didn't start out that way though.  I arrived at about 10 till to find people waiting in the parking lot.  Apparently the Lifeguard was a "no show".  Which meant we didn't have a key to get in.  After much waiting one of the guys went to get … [Read more...]

A Runner Looks at Thirty

cake

On Wednesday I celebrated my Thirtieth birthday.  Yeah Yeah I know, I 'm still a baby, and 30 is the new 20.  I heard it all this week.  But turning 30 doesn't bother me, I 've been 30 at all my triathlons this year anyway, and I am in way better shape now than I was when I was 20.  I've done more this past year than I ever thought I could do, and more than some people do in a life time.  I … [Read more...]

The final countdown

The week is upon us. One week left before the big race. I tried to take it easy this weekend, but if you ask Jason, I probably didn't. I think there are different styles of taper. My style... quality, less quantity. What do I mean by this? Keep my pace solid, using standard tempo, but reduce the quantity or mileage. I think I accomplished this this last week. This weekend I went out for … [Read more...]

Rain/Cold Hindering My Progress

Thursday was yucky!  All I could muster was a miserable 15 mile training ride with Danoh.  It wasn't that cold but it is getting dark early. Friday was a day off. Saturday Dan and I met for a 38 mile bike ride around Salisbury and Pleasant Plains.  Neff actually joined us for a quarter of the ride.  He flipped just before Salisbury.  Did I mention he is nuts?  It was something like 40 … [Read more...]

PSR

The computers were down at work so I busted out a few minutes early.  I was going to be on a time crunch if I wanted to get in a good training run. I managed to hit the pavement shortly after 16:00.  For some reason I felt pretty good so I decided to just go with it.  All the lights were turning red to green (to reference the song "Babylon").  It was cold and I was wearing shorts.  Heading … [Read more...]

Specialized_Transition_Pro_2009 Frameset

I stopped in at Wheel Fast today to bring my bike in before I head to Austin.  I was talking with the owner Matt and he is trying to unload a couple 2009 Specialized Transition Pro framesets for $1200 a piece. (this may sound like a lot, but this retailed for over $2000 bucks!) I currently have the 2008 model and the only thing that changed was the color.  So I will most likely hold off.  He … [Read more...]
