The Cherry Stoners

The Cherry Stoners kept me up too late on Friday night.  So the 06:30 morning run did not happen.  (Leah, did you make it?)  Pretty pathetic I know but sometimes you just have to tie one on.  It was fun partying with some HardyBreed. My training didn't start until 15:00.  I wasn't pressured to put in a hard effort as tomorrow will be tough.  With that in mind I rode the trainer for 30 … [Read more...]

The Longest Run

I opted to go home early last night after Court and I went to see "Confessions of a Shopaholic" .  Which was hilarious by the way.  Not sure who made it out to see Cherry Stoners, but I hope you had fun!  I ran from my house and met Jenni G's crew at moxo.  They were running 13, and I had 20 to do.  I figured having company for 13 was better than none at all.  We ran most of the A.L. half … [Read more...]

Beginner Triathlete of the Month

A great podcast from Endurance Planet.   This story may sound familiar.  A lot of  people come in the age grouper category just like this.... In order to be proficient in endurance sports you have to be learning all the time...and Rick Carter is learning all the time. The Fulton, Maryland architect has learned about time management, balance, hard work, and sharing insights with others. For … [Read more...]

Swimming 101

beginnertriswim

Tonight was the start of the triathlon swimming class at the YMCA with Nancy Alexander.  Jason picked me up at 6:30 to head downtown.  I was still juiced on the blackpowder I had for lunch and felt kind of like Beavis on a six pack of pepsi. So I have to apologize to Jason for putting up with me all night. The first hour of the class was classroom based. We talked about our experience and why … [Read more...]

Hard Days Night

I got up early an started to ride the trainer this morning.  My ipod was malfunctioning and I could not watch the Taylor Swift video on VH1 one more time.  I started searching through the movie in the On Demand section.  About this time my 6 year old comes down and lays on the couch.  I found "Annie" and had to watch it. I love Annie.  Who doesn't?  Well, Brady whined "I don't want to watch … [Read more...]

Timed mile

My foot felt much better this morning after wearing the Strass (that's what I'm calling it because I can't spell and you know what I'm talking about)sock for the second night.  However, 8 hours on your feet will change things... It was such a gorgeous day today that I couldn't wait to get out of work!  When all the cases were finished, I was off like a dirty shirt!  I went to the park and … [Read more...]

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday is always tough on multisport athletes.  Do you follow the traditions of the Church or do you bend the rules?  As multisport athletes we burn a lot more calories than a lay (pun intended) person.  If we only eat 1 meal and continue to train that day we risk injury or bonking. So what did I do?  Well, I ate a granola bar for breakfast, a small salad for lunch, and a larger … [Read more...]

The Octopus Cometh

It came, it saw... It kicked our butts!  Man, that is a tough workout. We met at 1st street and Madison at noon and proceeded towards the cemetery.  Once we entered the cemetery on Monument boulevard, we head towards the tomb and make that slight right and head downhill.  Once at the bottom we turn right and the 1st hill starts.  It's always good to get that first one out of the way, but … [Read more...]
