I will be glade to see the month of December over.  It seems like I have taken on more viruses than miles.  I have been on a every other day schedule.  Not purposely but, sometimes things work out that way.  I came down with some more congestion Sunday night after a 6 mile treadmill run.  Monday I felt like a$$, and did nothing.  Monday night my whole body was aching and I could not get … [Read more...]

Let It Flow

"Let it flow, let yourself go, slow and low, that is the tempo".  The Beastie Boys could not have described today's run better.  It was the tail end of my Christmas vacation.  My last day off was today so I went out for a long run. It's been a while since I ran with my iPod so I replaced the Garmin with the iPod.  The first song on shuffle was the aforementioned and it immediately put a … [Read more...]

Change of Pace

I had one more work out to get in this week.  My 6 mile pace run.  It was a beautiful day today, and I was over the treadmill, so my wonderful mother watched my children for me so I could run outside. My mom lives across town from me. Close to the Idot trail. I usually never run over there, so this gave me the perfect opportunity to change it up and run somewhere different. I parked my car, … [Read more...]

The Temperature Is What?

59 degrees?  Are you kidding me?  The tail end of December and shorts are a consideration?  Man, what a change in weather.  The temperature up here in Elkhart was 59 degrees at it's peak.  I can't imagine what it was  in Springpatch. The snow had all but melted leaving areas of slush and ice underneath.  Obviously, I did not expect temps like this so I brought only cold weather gear … [Read more...]

Happy Holla Holla Holiday

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  I had a wonderful Christmas, and not just because I was totally surprised with a new Northface  jacket.  My kids got enough new toys and Wii games to last all year!  The week has been crazy, but I have managed to fit in all my workouts from my training plan.  I woke up early Christmas morning and did a tempo run, and Friday I did weights, and speed work … [Read more...]

Dangerous vs. Slow

Today was definitely a YakTrax day.  I am up here in Elkhart, IN. celebrating Christmas with my wife's family.  There is about a 5-6" of snow on the ground and the temperature is just short of 30 degrees.  Last night there was a rain/sleet/drizzle that left the roads and sidewalks a sheet of ice. Some might call going out on a run like this dangerous or dumb but I shrug it off as just … [Read more...]

Cowboys, Falcons, And Sugar

My Dallas Cowboys lost on Saturday so I spent my Sunday workout watching the Falcons play the Vikings.  I was cheering for the Vikings so the Falcons wouldn't hog a playoff spot.   If the Vikings were victorious they would have an automatic birth by winning their division.  The Boys need all the help they can get.  I am desperate for a Wild Card birth. I began with 30 minutes on the … [Read more...]
