The experts say that riding with a group will improve your cycling speed and skill. I am sure that this is true and tried testing this theory last summer. Boyfriend S and I showed up at a purported “B” ride one evening. It started at Wheelfast in Chatham. Some very nice people were going to go on this ride. They were dressed in colorful jerseys that coordinated with their bikes. This should … [Read more...]
Salisbury Steak
I went and covered the Athleticare's Super Sprint this morning. I really like going to races when you don't have to race. No stress! The race had a great turn out and was well organized. A lot of people got exposed to the world of triathlon and I am guessing they had a lot of fun. Anyhow if you get a chance check out the photos and video from todays race. This afternoon I got Lola … [Read more...]
Iron Girl & 10k

Well this is one pathetic workout for the beginning of May. More wind and more rain... Will this ever end? After a short training week, I felt like I had a little energy bottled up. I have a few short running races coming up but I am focused on the Capital City Biathlon. I place 10th last year. I had a 6:43 pace on the run and a 21.9 mph average on the bike. My run pace may not … [Read more...]
Long swim
Friday morning I did a straight mile 1/4 swim before work. Nothing fancy just a long swim. I can swim a mile no problem in the pool, but an open water swim makes me nervous. If I am going to do the Railsplitter in August, I better get some open water practice in. After work I did a weight lifting class at Fit club. Satuday night is my best friend Courtney's bachellorette party in … [Read more...]
Listen to Me
I took Wednesday and Thursday off this week and a short 3 mile run today. Sometimes you need to listen to your body. What it was saying, I am not sure. Some much needed time off, maybe. I don't have any real races on the horizon, and maybe that is contibuting to my lack of focus. It could be the marathon training has caught up with me, or because the weather has refused to … [Read more...]
Indiana Math
The One America Mini Marathon 500 Festival boasts it is the largest half marathon in the country. The maximum number of participants is 35,000 and it is sold out. My bib number is 40099. I'm no mathematician but isn't 40,000>35,000. Oh well, that's Indiana Math for you. (The inside joke is that my wife is from Indiana). Wish me luck on Saturday, Rabbits. Jason … [Read more...]
Back on the trainer.
I brought my bike in last night and put it back on the trainer. I got up early and rode for about an hour. I can't always make it out on my bike during the week due to the kiddo's. My legs felt great. I tried to do half a high cadence, and half at a tougher gear. I just cranked the tunes on my ipod. After work I made it out for my "long" run. I did 6 miles down Washington. Now I know … [Read more...]
