The Capital City Biathlon started out in waves with a 5k. Teams, men, then women. The race was chip timed this year. The men started the race 3:00 after the teams. I started at the front of the pack, I did not want to get caught behind a bunch of people. The group spread out rather quickly. [Results] [Photos] I hit the first mile marker and hit the lap on my watch. 6:10, kind of … [Read more...]
Supersuit = SUPERPOWER
By Jenni G. I haven't been progressing as fast as I thought I would by now in my swimming abilities. The Stoneman Sprint is only two months away and I still am stuck at 200 yds. I’ve been struggling the most with breathing and relaxation in the water. As I may have mentioned before, the water and I are natural enemies. I don't trust the water and I'm sure the water feels the same about me. We … [Read more...]
Pirates 4, Cardinals 5
I took a 1/2 day off work and headed to St. Louis with the wife and some friends. No training today, just drinkin' and eating greasy food at the Cardinal's game. Obviously I didn't take my own advice and stay away from booze and appetizers. We started out at the Broadway Oyster Bar for some wings and Fat Tire. After the game it was Luca's Schoolhouse to see Web Wilder then back to the Oyster … [Read more...]
We’re not in Kansas anymore.
Hamstrings a little tight from Wednesday night track work out. It was so nice out Thursday and I knew it would rain Friday so I went to the park anyway. I Did the 2.5 loop around the park to warm up, then I did repeates on the long hill that goes behind the Carillon. Then a cool down. I totaled 5.5 miles. I was headed to fitclub South. was going to do some longer intervals in the … [Read more...]
“I’m Pretty Tired”
Those are the words of Andy L. prior to today's ride. How ironic since he pummeled everyone today. He had ridden in the blizzard-like conditions on Tuesday, kicked ass in Wednesday's TT, and now was doing the training race. The ride started amazingly fast. Screaming down Old Salem Rd. with a stiff crosswind at 28 mph. By the time we hit Farmingdale Rd. riders were off the back … [Read more...]
The Taste of Blood
I haven't had the taste of blood for a while. No I am not a vampire, or a prize fighter, I am just the average age grouper trying to push myself. It was time trial Wednesday, out at the New City course. Steve Schien of BikeTek graciously orgainized the event. He and about 25 others came prepared to beat the clock. I have never seen so many disc wheels and aero helmets. Everyone was … [Read more...]

Big Dance Wednesday.
When is the last time anyone went to big dance Wednesday? I don't know if they still have it. I just couldn't think of a name for my post tonight, so I will try and make it relevant. I went to 1600 powerzone at fit club. Great weight workout tonight with Amanda. Kids were with their Dad signing up for football! I was so psyched to go to the back on track work out with Katie Mac at … [Read more...]
Where It All Went Wrong
It all went wrong when I began to get ready to run. As soon as I started to get changed I began to have stomach cramps. To the point that not running crossed my mind. However, I was really motivated and didn't want to pass up the opportunity if I was this excited about running. It all continued to go wrong when I hit the pavement. To add fuel to the fire (so to speak) I looked down and … [Read more...]
Yes, I am a Quitter
Today, had to be some of the worst weather we have had this week (It is only Tuesday.) It topped out at 82 degrees yesterday and today hit a high of 56... It is training race Tuesday and with a forecast for rain it looked pretty hopeless. So I did a quick lunch run on the treadmill. I cranked that baby up to a 7:30 mile and did a 5k. 5 o'clock rolled around and it was about 52 degrees and a … [Read more...]
